Title:
gedit hangs when opening large XML file
Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gedit
Actually, this problem affects all GtkSourceView-based editors I have tried.
They seem unable to handle (not so) big text files. I mean ~10MB. The editor
just hangs for long time.
When (if) it finally opens the file, any editing is practically impossible -
its VERY slow.
The problem is even worse if the input text/xml file has long lines.
For example, the XML file I was trying to open was 10MB on a single line...
I know it's better the XML to be well formatted, but in my case it's not up
to me.
And I don't want to use vim or some other "hardcore" editor - I like gedit.
