Title:
texlive-science chemfig superimposes elements on top of each other in
  graphic

Status in “texlive-extra” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm trying to draw a simple chemical structural formula using LaTeX
style chemfig.sty (included in texlive-science), however upon
displaying the graphic all the elements are superimposed on top of
each other. I'm using LyX as a frontend, I've added
\usepackage{chemfig} to the LaTeX Preamble, and I've input the
  following LaTeX: \chemfig{C([2]H)([4]H)([6]H)C([2]H)([6]H)H} <--This
aformentioned ChemFig structural diagram is an example from section
  3.1 of the ChemFig documentation v1.0f published Feb 24, 2012. I
thought this might be an issue with my LaTeX installation, so I
  removed/purged and reinstalled:

  # sudo apt-add-repository ppa:texlive-backports/ppa
  # sudo apt-get autoremove --purge texlive texlive-science texlive-pictures
texlive-pictures-doc texlive-latex-extra-doc texlive-generic-extra
texlive-science-doc libreadline5 tex-gyre libruby1.8 tk8.4 tcl8.4 libkpathsea6
libptexenc1 ruby ruby1.8 ttf-marvosym libgraphite3 tex* libdigest-sha*
  # sudo apt-get autoremove
  # sudo apt-get clean
  # sudo apt-get update
  # sudo apt-get autoclean
  # sudo apt-get check
  # sudo rm -rf /etc/texmf
  # sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/tex*
  # sudo dpkg --purge --force-all tex*
  # sudo apt-get -f install
  # sudo apt-get install texlive-latex-recommended texlive-latex-extra
texlive-science texlive-generic-extra perl-tk libdigest-sha-perl

Even upon reinstalling texlive and related packages, the problem of
ChemFig graphics superimposing upon itself into a garbled mess
persists. It matters not if I export with pdflatex. Please see
attached graphic, it shows the display of the previous mentioned
example on the left, and another example from the ChemFig
  documentation on the right:
  \chemfig{[:30]RC[::60]C([::60,,,,rddbond]O)[,,,,lddbond]N([::60]H)[::60]CR}
