Hello folks,

Pursuant to https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/818864, Ubuntu
should provide a package which provides the xsession.desktop file in
/usr/share/xsessions, so that it shows up in the menu. This probably can
be done by making some mini-packages which install files from
/usr/share/doc/lightdm/examples to /usr/share/xsessions. This would be
helpful for administration, since it means all an administrator has to
do to enable Xsession login is install a package, rather than make a
configuration change (and one outside of /etc to boot).

Cheers,
Edward

P.S. Of course, it would be better if this was just installed by
default....
