i have the same problem on my laptop... the laptop monitor doesnt fully bright up but my external monitor is fine.... can be also solved by changing resolution and hitting the "revert configuration" from the monitors panel.

Now, if I leave my screen for a couple of minutes it dims. When I press a key, it only brightens a little bit. I can hardly see what I'm typing right now. Before the first such dimming, using the brightness keys works fine to control brightness. AFter the first screensave, they don't work. The laptop is plugged in. When I press a key after it's gone into powersaving/screensaving mode, the screen should rebrighten. Also, the controls for brightness should continue to work.
