Robert, seems that problem is in focus_upon_map function. Could not be
that focus is moved to wrong window? When this bug happens it is not
possible to select users using arrow keys too. This makes me think that
focus is on wrong window.

Also is that function realy needed? After I removed start_fake_wm
function I was not able to get this bug anymore. Tried many times to
restart, login than shutdown and start again. Tried with enabled on
screen keyboard too...

  Cannot type password until I have clicked something else

Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  If I try to type my password to log in, nothing happens, but when I
  select the volume settings at the top of the screen, or something like
  that, then I am able to enter my password.
