Title:
firefox causes 100% cpu usage of Xorg

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

  1st: greetings and thanks ahead!

  1)
  Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  Release: 10.04
  2)
My Synaptic tells, that my system is actualized.
  3)
I want/need to open big jpg files with an internet browser.
  4)
My desktop freezes When I open extreme wide jpg files (f.e. 22800x500 pixel).
The mouse moves slower than normal but nothing else moves, even the system
monitor applet stops.
Telnet login from remote is possible and 'top' shows, that the xorg process
takes 100% cpu usage (one of my four cores).

This happens not always when opening such an image the first time but
after opening one such file and than another one (always only one at a
time) my system freezes sooner or later.
