Title:
  Can't Compile on Trusty with libx264

Status in “libav” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  This is a fresh Ubuntu Trusty system. The problem also happens with
  ffmpeg. A reference script that I use on all my machines to
  compile/install everything is here: http://pastebin.com/TP6Rczur

  The problem is that it can't detect libx264 for some reason, even
  though ldconfig detects it fine. --extra-ldflags=-L/usr/local/lib has
  to be added to ./configure else it will not find x264.

  ldconfig -p | grep x264
   libx264.so.140 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/local/lib/libx264.so.140
   libx264.so.123 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libx264.so.123
   libx264.so (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/local/lib/libx264.so
   libx264.so (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libx264.so

  So everything is in working order and it should detect it, but it
  doesn't. I can't figure this out at all.
