The same bug in entirely analyzed here http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=713856 It turns out that libasound2-plugins-extra: 1.0.27-2ubuntu1 expects version 9 of libavutil , because it uses 0 for default alignement which was introduced after 0.8.9 release. It looks like the issue was fixed by back porting http://git.libav.org/?p=libav.git;a=patch;h=0109a09dc3850eb5dbff84a7bb50eb252a5a8f22 to 0.8.8. We need it for 0.8.9 as well.
