Compile the driver I install git on "Xubuntu 13.10" in one of the
attempts to start the system crash xfsettingsd could get a picture on
the screen. See the bug #1296449 .

I tried it on kubuntu 13.10, installing the driver deb there were no
issues. So I think that the problem of the black screen is caused by the
XFCE desktop environment.

Attached a patch for the package fixes this bug and bug #1165232 .

Title:
[VX820] Regression: driver does not work on Samsung NC20

Status in openchrome:
  Confirmed
Status in “xserver-xorg-video-openchrome” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm using a Samsung NC20 since a couple of years now. It has never
been easy with X11 but with Ubuntu 13.10/saucy it has become an export
issue to get this netbook running.

Notice that this is a regression from Ubuntu 13.04/raring where
openchrome was worked more or less flawless.

With 13.10 however, X11 bails out and even the console is not usable
  afterwards.
