When I revert to the xorg x server-amd/ati display driver wrapper from xserver-org-video-ati(open source,tested) Skype will only work for a limited period of time before it crashes. I am using a self build, with ubuntu 14.04 LTS, amd fx-4130 quad, graphics gallium 0.4 on amd cedar, os type 64-bit, disk 492.gb.
