Title:
[USB-Audio - Kensington USB3.0 Video Dock, playback] volume problem

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  1) Ubuntu version:

Using 14.04. Issues were introduced after upgrade from 13.10

  $ uname -a
  Linux jonas-xps 3.13.0-18-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 17 21:40:06 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  2) Alsa version:

  alsa-base:
    Installed: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu4

  3) What I expected to happen

When disconnecting my Kensington USB dock[1], which has an external sound
card, I expected volumes to either:
  - Remain the same as they were before the disconnect [3][4]
  - Volumes to be adjusted to 50% or some other saner value than 100%

  4) What happened instead

When disconnecting the USB dock, all volumes are set to 100%[5],
  including application volumes[2].

Additionally, the external sound card is not selected in gnome-
control-center[5] (see #1250759) and the card volume slider has no
  effect.
