Unresponsive area on screen

Bug description:
Next to an XFCE organized side bar there is a small area on the screen
(about 20x20 pixels) that is colored according to the chosen
background image of the desktop.
If a window is shoved to cover this corner with its standard window
decoration the window frame is *covered* / superimposed with this
small background-colored area. Shoving the window back to a more
centered position restores the window frame.
If the desktop menu is invoked in a manner that will render a corner
of it in this area the screen (background) is not restored for that
area when the menu is closed again.
