** No longer affects: somerville -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371483 Title: Please make NetworkManager give more information via the GUI about what it's doing while connecting Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Today Network Manager only gives you two bubbles and a swirl to give you some indication of what it is doing when connecting to a network. This does not give the users any info to what is going on. This is a request to have some notification to the user of what network manager is doing. The case of connecting to a wireless network for example. Whould have a notification of "Associating to AP <blah>" , then "Getting Network Address", then it would show "Connected to AP <blah>" For the case of a wired connection you would have a notification of "Connected to wired network", then "Getting Network Address", then it would show "Connected to wired network". That is the basic idea.
