changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test

apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

rhythmbox crashes when opening device preferences

Bug description:
so i have been trying unsuccessfully to sync some playlists to my
phone but whenever i try to open the device preferences rhythmbox
shuts down. i'm using ubuntu 11.10 and the phones i'm trying to use
are an iphone 4 with iOS4 and a samsung galaxy sII
when i click on the iphone symbol in rhythmbox terminal displays:

then when i try to open preferences rhythmbox shuts down, terminal says:

this is using an iphone 4 (iOS 4) i then tried the same thing with an android
phone, the first line didn't appear when i clicked the device icon but upon
trying to use preferences terminal tells me:

assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_OBJECT (value)' failed
this is super frustrating as i can't sync either of my phones now, what can i
do?
