This bug affected me on a previous release of Ubuntu,
but it's no longer happen in an up to date Ubuntu 13.10.
Note : I use the french keyboard map ("français - variante")

Expected:

Pressing space while typing into search must instert space character.
ex: type "The Herbaliser" or "Rolling Stone"
Happened
========
Pressing space into search box activate the keyboard shortcut play/pause, and
prevent inserting space character.
Workaround on Natty (11.04)
===========================
Ctrl-Space shortcut is working anyway.
