Saucy+nvidia-319 works with "nvidia.modeset=1". Do not add "nomodeset". Saucy+nvidia-319-updates says "Validated MetaModes: "NULL"", and does not work, similarly to Trusty+nvidia-319-updates or Trusty+nvidia-337 from xorg-edgers. The xorg.conf files are the ones that nvidia-prime installs. Blacklist nouvaeu are in place, installed by nvidia-prime as well. Specifying "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0" does not solve the problem.

It seems the 820M card can't find any attached display devices and tries to set video mode NULL. On 14.04 the "Validated MetaModes" are NULL while on 13.10 they are "nvidia-auto-select".
