I haven't had this for some time from the audio out. Had something similar
with headphones and it seemed to be a one-off pulseaudio issue..

Title:
[TA890GXE, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound, crackling

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Audio crackles every 30 seconds or so. No actual wanted sound comes
  out.

I've had this problem before with this hardware and something usually fixes
it. The problem started on a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 running Left4Dead2
via Wine.
Survived restart to Ubuntu 12.04 with Xorg-Xdgers PPA (kernel 3.5-5)
Currently reporting this via an Ubuntu 12.04 LiveCD.
