[Impact] The LC_NUMERIC formats are imported from the es_ES locale to several Latin American locales with other conventions for thousands_sep and decimal_point, which results in incorrect number formating. Quoting from bug #997248: "This problem is seen when I try to use the calculator, or other gnome program that involves math, it's confusing." [Test Case] Before the fix: $ LC_NUMERIC=es_GT.UTF-8 printf "%'.2f\n" 12345,67 12.345,67 After the fix: $ LC_NUMERIC=es_GT.UTF-8 printf "%'.2f\n" 12345.67 12,345.67 [Regression Potential] There might exist scripts that adapts to the current incorrect behavior. Given that 14.04 was recently released, fixing the bug ought to carry greater weight. [Original description] In Guatemala the thousands separator is a comma and the decimal separator is a dot.
