I see several kinds of memory leaks (one as reported above) right after installing 14.04 on T400 w.4GB RAM:
1. "top" shows 1.1GB at startup, 2. It grows to 1.2GB in 8 hours witthout any user activity 3. Starting Firefox with one page (Google) increases it to 1.4GB 4. After 1.5 hours without any activity usage grwos to 1.6GB 5. After sudo apt-get update/clean/upgrade grows to 3.1GB (!) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308550 Title: apt-get update leaking memory Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: after call command: sudo apt-get update [sudo] password for viktor: I see 1 line about leaking of memory: no talloc stackframe at ../source3/param/loadparm.c:4864, leaking memory Ign http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com trusty InRelease Ign http://security.ubuntu.com trusty-security InRelease ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: gnome-terminal 3.6.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Apr 16 14:35:26 2014 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-terminal InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-27 (354 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_IE:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_IE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-terminal UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2014-03-28 (19 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1308550/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
