I think it's an very minor but inconvenient issue of LibreOffice default settings I fixed mine (Version: 4.2.3.3 Build ID: 420m0(Build:3) installed from default ubuntu repos, via: Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Appearance
then enable [X] Table Boundaries See screenshot for reference.
