Red Hat just addressed this in the RHEL7 version of Evolution, see
RHBA-2014-0727.
Could Ubuntu please do the same?

Title:
Cyrus IMAP shared folders do not work in Evolution

Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
  evolution 3.10.4-0ubuntu1
  evolution-data-server 3.10.4-0ubuntu1

I expected to be able to use shared folders on a Cyrus IMAP server,
but instead I only get a message saying "There are no messages in this
folder." Thunderbird has no problem working with the shared folders.

This appears to be a problem of the "IMAP+" server type, which also
affects earlier versions of Evolution (tried on 2.32.3). However, the
older version also supports an "IMAP" server type that works as
expected, but this is no longer available in newer versions of
  Evolution.

This has been reported upstream and there appear to be patches:
