Red Hat just addressed this in the RHEL7 version of Evolution, see RHBA-2014-0727. Could Ubuntu please do the same?

Thunderbird has no problem working with the shared folders. This appears to be a problem of the "IMAP+" server type, which also affects earlier versions of Evolution (tried on 2.32.3). However, the older version also supports an "IMAP" server type that works as expected, but this is no longer available in newer versions of Evolution.
