I am terribly sorry, but there might me another issue hidden within it. When adding an _inline_ image (making double sure that the link option is not selected), saving and opening the resulting odt on another machine, the image always appears to be linked and not available locally. As this is not part of this issue all I can do is to provide the defunct odt and the image itself in a zip.
