Title:
Missing language in Accept-Language field of HTTP requests
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
I am running Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bits) in French, and I use Firefox in
French too. My Firefox version is 29.0, tagged as "Mozilla Firefox for
Ubuntu / canonical - 1.0"
Some web sites change their default language according to the HTTP
request field named "Accept-Language". I expect those web sites to
offer me a web page in French, however I always get the English
version when browsing with Firefox.
After some investigation, I discovered that my version of Firefox does
not send an expected value for "Accept-Language".
- Expected value: fr,fr-FR;q=0.8,en-US;q=0.5,en;q=0.3
- Value sent instead: en-US,en;q=0.5
Tests with other browsers:
- French Chromimum on French Ubuntu 14.04: the value is correct
- French Firefox on French Windows 7: the value is correct.
- French Chrome on French Windows 7: the value is correct.
Maybe the problem is present with other languages.
I don't know if it is related, but:
- in Firefox's about:config, the value of intl.accept_languages is: fr,
fr-fr, en-us, en
- in a terminal, the "locale" command shows only fr_FR
