Title: CUPS ignores page output order for some Brother printers Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Printer I am using is DCP197C. 1. Install drivers from http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linux/en/download_prn.html#DCP-197C (both lpr and cupswrapper are required) 2. Try to print a document with multiple pages 3. Document is output in wrong order (last page prints last instead of first, so you have to rearrange the printed document by hand) 4. Run system-config-printer and change 'Reverse Printing' to 'On' in printer options 5. Do a test print to find this has no effect 6. In 'Job options', click 'More' under common options and change 'Output order' to 'Reverse' 7. Do a test print to find this has no effect The only workaround I have found, which was really not obvious at all, was to edit /etc/cups/printers.conf, and add Option outputorder normal before the closing </printer> tag of the relevant printer. I have only tested this under DCP197C but I expect similar printers in the series (including DCP195C) would also suffer from this problem. Perhaps it is caused by the recently introduced introduction of using PDF as the default job format instead of postscript ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: cups 1.7.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-30.54-generic 3.13.11.2 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-30-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Wed Jul 2 15:55:27 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-06-30 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140416.2) Lpstat: device for DCP197C: usb://Brother/DCP-197C?serial=BROG0F178003 MachineType: Packard Bell BV IMEDIA B2217 UK Papersize: a4 PpdFiles: DCP197C: Brother DCP-197C CUPS ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-30-generic root=UUID=c1bfcc97-458f-491b-a61e-9c364bf5e152 ro quiet splash SourcePackage: cups UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/10/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: PBDV10.P18 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: MCP73VT-PM dmi.board.vendor: Packard Bell BV dmi.board.version: 1.0 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Packard Bell BV dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrPBDV10.P18:bd09/10/2008:svnPackardBellBV:pnIMEDIAB2217UK:pvrPTU050Y007:rvnPackardBellBV:rnMCP73VT-PM:rvr1.0:cvnPackardBellBV:ct3:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: dmi.product.name: IMEDIA B2217 UK dmi.product.version: PTU050Y007 dmi.sys.vendor: Packard Bell BV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1336822/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
