Title:
Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed

Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed.
I am playing a piece of music using Banshee. If I press the hardware keyboard
volume control button "Mute", then the volume will be zero. This is as
expected.
If I now press the hardware keyboard volume control button "Mute" again, then
the volume will stay zero. This is an error. I expect that the old volume would
be restored.
But I can press now the hardware keyboard volume control button "Up", and the
music will play with the old volume value.
This is an error because this button's function is only to increase the
volume from the present volume level.
