password dialog doesn't appear when screensaver ends

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
since the upgrade to natty, the password dialog sometimes doesn't appear so I
can't unlock my screen.
in that case I only see a blank screen with the mouse cursor. most of the
time i switched to some text-console and back to the xserver console and was
able to login then. the other times, I hit esc and enter and after a while I
the password dialog appeared.
using gnome, not unity.
