I found that changing Firefox's theme fixes the problem, but it has to be a "Complete Theme" (the one that changes Firefox complete appearence). But, this is more like hiding the problem instead of fixing it because the problem persists if I go back to the default theme. Note: I'm currently running Mint 17

The problem also occurs on Ubuntu 12 After installing Linux Mint I updated the system including the update for Firefox 31 and the URL bar stopped working properly and now it doesn't show the address of the page I'm visiting, all I can see is a black & grey block over the URL address. It is supposed to display the page address by just looking at the bar, but it is hidden by that black & grey block all the time. I remember that the problem also showed on Ubuntu 12 and it was fixed by changing the theme of Firefox, but that doesn't work on Linux Mint. The PC is an old Dell Optiplex GX270. I'm also insteresting in knowing if someone else is experiencing that problem or if it is because of the antiquated PC. I attached a screenshot.
