Ok good, upgrading glade-gtk2 and libgladeui-1-11 from trusty-proposed
(version 3.8.0-0ubuntu6.1) fixed the segfault.

  glade-gtk2 crashes opening .glade files. This is due to a change in glib. 
This is fixed in the upstream glade project [1].

  1. Open glade-gtk2 with the .glade file in [2]

  Glade shows the UI from the file

  Glade crashes
