I had an error while retrieving extra data files due to my ISP blocking me out
of source-forge, so I tried to install apt-transport-tor from a .deb file.
Software center opened, but stopped responding. I force quit, and then tried to
reopen it regularly. It stopped responding again. I tried doing:
sudo apt-get purge software-center
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install software center
Reopened after new install, still force quit.
I am running Ubuntu 14.0.4 off of an external hard-drive hooked up through USB,
has been working fine up until this morning.
