Now oneiric is full and stable, but the bug exists on. Can be
workarounded with a different login with new profile or guest.

In which file reside the brightness setting?

Title:
Backlight jumping between full and normal

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Oneiric alpha on thinkpad x41
Since todays updates the backlight drives me crazy. It jumps while simply
using the computer to full power in battery mode. The thinkpad buttons only
move the thinkpad osd slider, but the backlight stays full power. If the
pointer is moved or a key pressed, the backlight jumps back to normal and
switchable state.
I did not found an option in the new gnome power manager to handle the
brightness. Seems that the machine idle turns the backlight on full power, need
sunglasses now.
