Hi Rolf,

Sorry, forgta about this bug.
The bug vanished (for me) when updating to trusty. And the new laptop
with a fresh trusty install does not show this bug too.

Best regards,

Andreas

After focusing the pidgin window the load drops again.

Found a bug in ubuntu (sorry, lost the url) that mentiond a bug in the

And some more reports in the www: it ooks like this bug stating a
  faukty gtk2 lib version:

  https://bbs.archlinux.de/viewtopic.php?id=19321
  and
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652872

  The installed gtk2 is

  # apt-cache policy libgtk2.0-0

          500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  and pidgin from their ppa:

  # apt-cache policy pidgin
  pidgin:
    Installiert: 1:2.10.1-1ubuntu1+pidgin1.11.10
    Kandidat: 1:2.10.1-1ubuntu1+pidgin1.11.10
