** Description changed:

Not sure which package this is in.

Originally described in my (elindarie) comments at

But when I tried reporting it as "ubuntu-bug sane-backends" it said
- something "that package isn't installed".
+ something like "that package isn't installed".

So I'm trying to find what package the bug is in.

The scanner works with an older Debian laptop, but not the newer Ubuntu
  14.04 64-bit laptop.

  Output of scanimage -L:

device `brother4:bus2;dev1' is a Brother DCP-8155DN USB scanner

  Output of scanimage -T:

scanimage: rounded value of br-x from 215.9 to 215.88
scanimage: rounded value of br-y from 355.6 to 355.567
  scanimage: sane_start: Invalid argument

gscan2pdf doesn't work either, gives "invalid argument".

The scanner is connected in the USB 2.0 port.

I added the following line to /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules

  ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0293",
  ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"

Is there some way I can print out more debugging?
