chat notification doesn't work

Bug description:
Thunderbirg in the 14.04 stable has the chat feature. There is default chat
notification enabled and sound notification enabled (Preferences/Chat - Show
notification). I have this one checked.
When I setup new XMPP (Jabber) account and new message arrived to me,
thunderbird doesn't notify me about that.
This makes the chat feature useless. I expect same notification as for new
email.
This error is shown in the error console:
