Thanks. I switched 'Keyboard Input Method System' from IBus to none, as suggested in the askubuntu question above. I did some research about it, and as I use English and Hungarian input sources, I think that I don't need IBus at all. Should I worry about nasty side effects? The bug disappeared after reboot, and I can type well, so for now, it's an alright workaround.

Copying and pasting using right click does not cause the issue. I've experienced this issue on multiple computers with vastly different hardware. One computer is using proprietary nVidia drivers and the others are not. 1)lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 14.10 Release: 14.10 2)apt-cache policy gedit gedit: Installed: 3.10.4-0ubuntu6 Candidate: 3.10.4-0ubuntu6 Version table: *** 3.10.4-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ utopic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1390738/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
