Title: Gnome desktop stops responding when panel docked on left Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64. Gnome Panel version is 2.26.0. My computer has 6GB of RAM. I run my monitor at 1920 x 1080 dpi. This problem also occurred with Ubuntu 8.10 with the same hardware. When I move the panel that, by default, is anchored to the bottom of my screen to the left side, the entire Gnome desktop will eventually stop responding. This does not happen immediately. It may not occur for several minutes to an hour or more. At that point, all panels and menus become unresponsive and the clock ceases to update its display. Alt-tab task switching still works, as do all running GUI applications. I have to switch to a virtual console and restart gdm to recover.
