I stand corrected: on that machine I get LibreOffice from ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-prereleases
It just updated to 4.4.0.0.beta2 and the problem described is still present. I had switched that machine July 16, 2014 to the prereleases PPA because I needed to connect Base to a MySQL database and back then * v4.2.4.2 in the default Ubuntu repository did not do it * v4.2.5~rc2, standard PPA, did not do it * v4.3.0~rc2 in the pre-release PPA worked read-only which was good enough for my needs, at least temporarily. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1400938 Title: [PPA] LibreOfficeDev upgrade breaks desktop integration Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On one of my desktops I get LibreOffice from https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa The recent upgrade to 4.4.0.0.beta 1 breaks desktop integration. The entries in Xubuntu's whisker menu do not have an icon, and returns an error message saying: Failed to execute command "libreofficedev4.4 --writer %U". Failed to execute child process "libreofficedev4.4" (No such file or directory) When I try to start an ODT document from Dolphin (Kubuntu), the error message reads: KDEInit could not launch 'libreofficedev4.4': Could not find 'libreofficedev4.4' executable. Workaround: * start a terminal * start LibreOffice with the command `libreoffice &` * use LibreOffice's own File dialog to open the document Other than that, I am quite happy with the new version. A few changes I have to get used to, but that's normal with any progress.
