Guys, this bug report was submitted almost five years ago! I don't know whether this bug is still present in recent versions of Evince. Meanwhile I switched to Mac OS (after 16 years with GNU/Linux). You do not necessarily need typokurz.pdf to reproduce this bug (use any PDF file with umlauts or ligatures)–but you can find it here: http://bit.ly /typokurz-cb.
