With a multi-page document, I create the footer: "Page 1", where the page number is inserted from the current page field. I then edit the page footer settings (Format->Page->Footer) so that I don't have the "Same content on the first page" (i.e. unchecked). I then remove the "Page 1" text on the first page and confirm that I still have "Page 2", "Page 3", etc. I can export this file to a PDF and everything comes out right, however when I close the odt and then reopen it, I see none of the footer text has been saved.
