I'm not sure if this is correct forum protocol but I'd like to add info to my previous post about substituting the Nouveau drivers for the proprietary Nvidia drivers in Lubuntu 14.10 with Nvidia GeForce 7300GS drivers. As stated that eliminated the broken pipe error, but I've since upgraded the Linux kernel in my OS to 3.18.0, reinstalled the Nvidia 304.125 drivers and...no broken pipe error!
