I don't know where the problem lies, but it's not in xscreensaver. Something, possibly your panel, is holding the mouse grabbed. There is no way for xscreensaver to function if it can't get a mouse grab.

Here is my panel entry: Plugin { type = launchbar Config { Button { id=lxde-screenlock.desktop } Button { id=lxde-logout.desktop } } } If I'm now clicking the "id=lxde-screenlock.desktop" button nothing happens for several seconds and then xscreensaver locks the screen but shows the error message "couldn't grab pointer (AlreadyGrabbed)" and mouse movements doesn't popup the input fields anymore (but the keyboard is still recognized). Using "xscreensaver-command -lock" manually works fine.
