If you have not chatted with a Facebook contact via Pidgin before, it will appear as [email protected] in your chat list, without profile picture or online status. If the person comes online and you write something, it seems like personal information is exchanged, after which online status, profile picture, and real name (instead of *@chat.facebook.com) appear.
At least that's what's happening for me right now. See attachment for a screenshot this process. ** Attachment added: "Bildschirmfoto-C.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/1172818/+attachment/4309556/+files/Bildschirmfoto-C.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pidgin in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172818 Title: Pidgin doesn't show online facebook contacts Status in pidgin package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I use the xmpp facebook connection for years but a few days ago it stopped working.
