Dock disappears after disabling Animations plugin from CCSM

Bug description:
I'm not sure if this is completely compiz related or unity, so
apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I'm on ubuntu 12.10 and when I uncheck Animations from CCSM the dock
disappears and does not come back until I do unity --replace and I get
the following error. Alt+tab works, applications, and top panel still
work. Dock is set to autohide.
Is animations mandatory for the dock?
