All this discussion is very well and good, but how do we work around this problem?
I'm deleting e-mails from Gmail on my iPhone and still seeing them hours later in Thunderbird. Work Offline > Work Online > Click another folder > Click Inbox seems to force resynch. I'd really prefer not to do this by hand every hour.
