This still a problem. I have tried updating to LibreOffice 4.4 from the PPA but that didn't fix the issue with the help files. This is really annoying and frustrating.
Here is what I have installed for libreoffice: jnicholson@jhnlt001:~$ dpkg -l libreoffice* Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Help docs contain some images, e.g., of buttons/icons, but they seem to be missing from the Ubuntu distribution. Instead of the missing images you see some kind of default icon with the text "vnd.sun.st" (see attached screen-shot). Some of these are quite crucial -- they document actions which can only (apparently) be accessed by pressing a button, not via menus. So if you can't see what the button looks like, there is no way to know how to access that function. TO REPRODUCE: Help->Libre Office Help Search for "read-only documents;editing" RESULTS: It says "use the Edit File icon to activate..." (no mention of any other way, such as via menus), and displays an error icon. EXPECTED RESULTS: You should see a picture of the icon you are supposed to use. RELEVANT DETAILS: Affects the help in any language.
