This is still an issue with 11.10 - I have the same KVM switch. For
what it's worth, I booted with Fedora 15 Live and it had the same
problem. Prior to upgrading to 11.10, I was running 10.10 and it did
not have the problem.

Title:
Trendnet TK409 USB KVM switch no longer works

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  roland@logikaldesktop:/etc/grub.d$ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
  Release: 9.10

Prior to installing this version, Trendnet TK409 USB KVM switch would always
work with 2-3 taps of the numlock key. It is dead in the water now.
