Issue persists in 14.04 fresh install. Keyboard layout needs to be changed to US or else remmina will not work.

If the keyboard layout on install is selected as South Africa (maybe other counties too) then Remmina will not work. I have to go to /etc/default/keyboard and change XKBLAYOUT="za" to XKBLAYOUT="us" and then it works fine.
