I see the same problem using two machines running trusty amd64. However, in my case the remote system was configured to prompt the user for confirmation to allow incoming VNC connections. You may want to ensure this is not the case.
The behaviour can be changed using "vino-preferences", and then restarting the session to make the change effective. If you have SSH access to the remote user, you can connect using ssh -Y, and run vino-preferences remotely via X forwarding. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to vinagre in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776028 Title: cannot see remote screen during VNC server connection Status in Vinagre: VNC client for GNOME: New Status in vinagre package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: vinagre cannot see remote screen during VNC server connection - connecting to MacOSX Snow Leopard - previously no username was requested, now will not connect with username, and displays blank screen on connection ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: vinagre 2.30.3-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 3 01:41:35 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/vinagre InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: vinagre UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-03 (0 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/vinagre/+bug/776028/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
