Comment #2 can be ignored. The side pane was greyed out because the packet eog-plugins was not installed #-)

All of my geocoded images are misplaced by an offset of about 50km to the southwest. Geeqie displays the maps correctly. EOG in Ubuntu 10.10 did not have that error, too.
