Public bug reported: This is collected on 15.04, but also occurred in 14.10 on the same laptop and another AMD custom built desktop. The browsers have three users signed in, but only one active window open and one blank tab. Removing the extensions seemed to have zero impact on the crash. This stall then crash behaviour makes Chromium and Chrome unusable as the program is killed within a few minutes of starting.
The following is the terminal output of just launching chromium-browser and letting it sit. The same behaviour also occurs with Google-Chrome as well and does not disappear if the packages are installed and reinstalled. The observed behaviour is upon launch the system loads as expected while watching the system ram allocation the RAM grows then plateaus then while sitting there the window will gray and be non responsive. Then resume to a regular colour while the RAM will grow until the system memory is exhausted. $ chromium-browser ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment.
