Brother HL-1670 printer will not print

Bug description:
I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneric Ocelot) to 12.04 (Precise
Pangolin). Although I could install drivers for both a Hewlett-
Packard Deskjet 710C printer and a Brother HL-1670N lazer printer, the
Brother printer would not print. (The HP Deskjet did). I tried
reinstalling the Brother driver several times with no success.
